If you are a Member and did not get an email over the weekend you need to correct this, as it is the only way to get the Viewbar notice with downloading instructions. If you did not get it, try going into your account to make sure we have a current email address on file (if it is correct and you still did not get an email, check your junk/spam folders). "
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
here is the email that I received and Dan has also posted it on his blog .
of course I have replaced his name with mine ;)
~~~~

Dear .....,

We will be releasing the AGLOCO Viewbar software soon and want to update Members on how things will work when it is released.

Each Member will get an email informing them that their Viewbar is available. It will contain detailed instructions on the download, which will be done from the agloco.com website. Members will be invited to download in groups of 50,000 a day for a two week period, with Members contacted in the order in which they signed up.

Shortly before the first set of download emails go out, you will receive an email notice that the AGLOCO website will be ‘out of service’ for a few hours – this is necessary for us to move the Viewbar download system from the test server to the main servers.

Also, please be aware of the following:

1. AGLOCO Hours: You will accrue hours in your AGLOCO Member account (current maximum is five direct hours a month). Hours are earned during active surfing on the Internet. The Viewbar has a green light on it that notifies the Member when it is accruing time. Your referrals’ surfing will accumulate hours for you at a 25% rate, meaning if one of your referrals surfs for the maximum five hours you will get 1.25 (0.25 x 5) hours credited to your total referral hours. You can only get credit referral hours up to the amount you directly surf (meaning if you surf 3 hours but a referral surfs 4, you will only get credit for the first 3 of your referral’s 4 hours). AGLOCO accrues these hours each month and also has a cumulative total of all hours earned. These hours are what AGLOCO will use to calculate cash and other distributions. The Viewbar contains a one click inactive button which turns it off and removes it from your screen at any time.

2. Initial Release for Windows: The initial Viewbar release will be for Windows Vista, XP, 2000 Pro and 2000 Server. Later, we will release Mac and Linux versions of the Viewbar. Until that occurs, Mac/Linux users can still log onto any supported Windows computer and accumulate their five hours. The Viewbar works with browsers IE 5.5 or higher and Firefox 1.5 or higher.

3. Cash Distributions: To be a sustainable entity in the long term, AGLOCO makes Member cash distributions from its positive cash flow (revenue minus costs). Therefore, please do not expect a check after the first couple of months as it will take time to collect revenue from advertisers and this revenue must exceed costs in order to make cash distributions to Members. We will be keeping Members informed of our financials and you can visit the Official company blog at http://blog.agloco.com for the latest updates.

4. Multiple Users on One Viewbar: As stated previously, multiple Members may use the same Viewbar on the same computer. Only one Viewbar download will be necessary as the Viewbar software will enable each Member to log in and log out using their AGLOCO Member ID# and password (obviously, only one Member ID# can be accumulating Viewbar hours at any one time). Please note, only one Viewbar is allowed on a screen at a time.

5. One-Time Download: The v1.0 Viewbar is purposely simplistic and minimalist, but it also comes equipped with an automatic self-updating feature. Once you download the Viewbar for the first time, your Viewbar will be seamlessly updated with new additions and features as they become available. These future features include the direct cash back feature when a Member purchases items on sponsor site and a portion of the purchase price is added back to the Member’s AGLOCO account (as described on the Official AGLOCO Blog . )

We look forward to your active participation in the AGLOCO community.

Dan Jorgensen
Member Coordinator

~~~
Let the fun begin!!
Making old hearts young again
Making old hearts young again from PhysOrg.com
Ischaemic heart disease, characterised by reduced blood flow to the heart, is Australia's and the world's leading cause of death. It is most common in older people and the impact of the disease will continue to rise with an ageing population.
[...]
.. Director of Griffith's Heart Foundation Research Centre Professor John Headrick said older hearts become less resistant to damage during heart attack.
"Furthermore, new experimental therapies to reduce damage also appear less effective in older hearts. It is therefore critical that we understand how age alters the heart, and how older hearts respond to disease."
Together with researcher Dr Jason Peart, his team have identified normally protective processes within cardiac cells that become ineffective with age.
"When we experimentally target this 'cascade of proteins' it is possible to render an aged heart akin to a young heart in terms of its response to a heart attack. This type of research paves the way for new therapies designed to specifically manage heart disease in our older population," Professor Headrick said.
The research is currently supported by grants from the National Heart Foundation and research fellowships from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
Dr Jason Peart completed his undergraduate degree at Griffith and PhD in the Heart Foundation Research Centre, before moving to the US for a prestigious postdoctoral position supported by the American Heart Association.
He was lured back to Australia with a NHMRC Howard Florey Centenary Research Fellowship – a scheme designed to counteract the brain drain of Australian talent – and has since been awarded an NHMRC Career Development Award.
The award, which supports early career researchers who have demonstrated excellence in their respective fields, allows Dr Peart to continue studying the particular roles of adenosine and opioids in triggering the protein cascades to produce heart cell protection.
Source: Research Australia
Froogle is GONE
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_qDUWQZDbZNg/Ri1vfOJV_KI/AAAAAAAAAAU/64KHTcv_48Y/s320/froogle1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5056820538770848930" />
I was in love with the word Froogle - and now its the same old 'product search' - how is that going to make it a better service? The interface is cleaner according to some, and the search page will now also display all of the searched items by the user, but did they really need to change the name to Google Product Search' ?
Anyways, the service is free, as is the case with all of Google's services, so taking advantage of it is a must.
Hey, if you want to earn $10, simply sign up with Google Checkout, and start shopping.
Richard Gere Says Sorry to Shilpa
Shilpa Shetty - the Sexy Indian actress who won Big Brother! Circumstances forced Richard to apologize to Shilpa!! That is because the political as well as religious leaders in India are angry at Richard for 'kissing Shilpa in Public'.
The News article opens with 'Unaware that he was breaking the cultural taboos' Richard apologized to Shilpa for causing outrage. At first learning what happened sounded funny for a few seconds, but then I was annoyed for all the frenzy created by Indian people. The bigotry of this society always always gets me.
What cultural taboos are these 'leaders' talking about? This is a country with a highest degree of hypocrisy! (I grew up there and I know what I am talking about). On some social networks I have seen people openly saying in their profile sections that they are "turned on" by "public displays of affection" and "assertiveness".. so why such a hue and cry over Richard Gere kissing Shilpa? well, mind you they said 'in public'..
Don't forget this is the country that gave Kama Sutra to the world. How can they even start to pretend such prudes?
And, how ironic the situation was. The actors had appeared at an AIDS-Awareness gathering in New Delhi. The politicians and so-called religious leaders are way out of bounds in this one (as is often the case). The nonsensical fury made Richard Gere even apologize to Shilpa. How embarrassing that in a world of constant violence and chaos, a mere kiss is not acceptable in some parts of the world.
And I have this to say to the spokesperson for the "mainstream political party 'the Bharatya Janata Party' who said: "Such a public display is not part of Indian tradition." How do you feel when more than 400,000 of your daughters and sisters are kidnapped every year and sold for sex? That is not so public so you don't feel you need to address it? Or when girls from other countries are sold to you guys?
See this: India is also a destination for women and girls from Nepal and Bangladesh trafficked for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation. In addition, boys from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh are trafficked through India to the Gulf States for involuntary servitude as child camel jockeys.
People in India would develop much more respect for leaders only if they paid more attention to securing the young and helpless kids of Gandhi's nation. Read this mother's plight here. I am the third out of four and the second daughter. Older sister was a few too many years apart from me and my older brother but I remember she used to be the one taking care of us younger siblings most of the time when my mother had to go out of the house to run some errands. And from errands I mean sometimes out of town for several days!!
I never felt I was being abused, rather, I felt that my demands were given preferential treatment over my brothers - by the sister as well as my father - and that would leave my mother a bit irritated on her return :-) little things like spending the entire afternoon at the friend's house and not helping in household chores in her absence.
And then it would be my turn in the kitchen - by mother's orders - making coffee or tea every time someone visited - it was so normal for friends and acquaintances to just drop by in the evenings and you would end up making tea many times before the night fell. And if the older sister or even my brother wanted to help me out, my mother would not let them, merely because she believed I "needed" to learn these things for one day I would need to do them for "my" family.
Anyways, those were beautiful days, and I yearn to have them back. Time once gone, never comes back.
My parents did not believe in sparing the rod and spoiling the child adage….. and at times it may have felt bad, but I can see it today that those occasional scoldings and discipline techniques did work and I am sure made us good humans today.
I'm sure there is a small percentage of those parents who truly ABUSE their kids- but those people are mentally sick. And that’s not to say that the parents who are strict, don’t love their children - being strict and punishing kids for mistakes doesn’t mean you are abusive. But there has to be a better way to deal with discipline. Especially with young girls, our approach definitely has to be a bit different than with boys.
But the article did make me feel very sad for the girls, especially at the number of girls who wished they were boys. Now that really sucks.
trying this new template!! its really neat and i think I am gonna love it over time.. thanks to thur for this great job.. which means ill have to think up something to post in order to see its beauty!
thank you once again Thur...
visit him here : http://thrbrtemplates.blogspot.com/
